OUR DEVELOPER ~ Jouko J. Rissanen: Born in Helsinki, Finland and raised in America, Jouko learned his trade at an early age by selling pots and pans, encyclopedias and magazines door to door. For the past 30 years he has been involved in many medical ventures:

  • Cardiac Systems (pacemakers). Sold to Intermedics, Inc.
  • Occumedics (Cataract Phaco-Emulsification needle paks). Sold to Stortz Medical
  • Optical Radiation (Intra-Ocular Lenses). Became a public company.
  • Med Fusion (Chemotherapy Pumps). Sold to Medex Inc.
  • Sensor Technology (Pacemaker and Implantable Defibrillator). Sold to Eli Lilly
  • Quality Diagnostic Cardiac Services (Arrhythmia Monitoring). Sold to Matria, Inc.
  • WebMD (His Last Medical /Internet Venture). Went public - market cap now $6 billion.

When Jouko turned his passion to real estate in Northwest Georgia, he made an immediate impact with the development of the Highlands Commercial Center. As the number of his residential resort communities grew, Jouko recognized the need for an established marketing company to help fulfill his vision. Jouko's motto is "it's big, really big". Once he met Hank "Bulldog" Fischer...it REALLY became big!

OUR FOUNDER ~ Hank "Bulldog" Fischer: Hank has been marketing large resort communities for over 30 years throughout Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. In an earlier life as a pitcher with the Milwaukee /Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox Hank's strong desire to win created "the Bulldog" nickname.

Carrying "The Team" concept into the resort real estate field Hank's marketing company has sold over 15 large resort developments from 200 acres to 10,000 acres. "The Team" consists of on-site and off-site managers and over the past 30 years close to 500 real estate companies have participated in our resort communities throughout the southeast.

Today, the marketing company (Mountain Resort Properties, LLC) is involved with 9 resort communities in the mountains of North Georgia. The culmination of Hank's career will be the marketing of Plantation Waterways and Heavens Gate. These resorts are located in the Georgia Mountains and are now in the conceptual planning stages.
